GOODBYES
We are very sad to have lost our gorgeous Kerina to the Aussies. Many of you will have met her when she has done barista training for us. We miss her, but wish her well.
Tamryn our Northland barista has also defected to the Aussies, (what have they got???) Good luck Tamryn.

MACHINE MAINTENANCE & SERVICEING
Tony still treks down to the city every 2-3 weeks for machine problems and servicing. If there are problems in between these times, we have Jesse, a very capable technician in training, who will help us out. Jesse is also a great barista and a great teacher, so do ask him about training for your staff if needed.
We are pleased to welcome on board Gray who will be covering our northland area for training.

PRICE OF LIVING
As we’re all well aware the price of everything seems to have skyrocketed. And I’m afraid coffee is the same. We have been carrying the increase of both beans and freight over the past few months, but now, do need to review our prices.
Please refer to the enclosed lists for our future prices effective from 1st September 2008. If you have friends nearby, you might want to look at combining postage costs, as this is a huge increase.

Text Box: BICA NEWSLETTER

It’s been way too long since our last newsletter! Whoever, said life in the country was relaxed and slower, has definitely not done it! Still, our house is now liveable, and our animals are growing in number. In fact so is our family with our 3rd baby due after Christmas!

WELCOME
We would like to welcome on board some new faces, and new places.
Sugerbelles Café in Maungaturoto is led by the vivacious Julie Lewis, Julie runs her relaxed place with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, and has a great selection of cabinet food.
Maggie Scott Café, on Dominion Road, in Mt Eden is led by Sandra Taylor. It is a cosy, up and coming stop for great food.
Peas In A Pod, in Whenuapai, is a lively take out cafe with fabulous food, and always friendly staff, led by Karen Urquart.
Bean Grinding, in the Telecom Building, Down Town, is the second business venture for Neville Sweetman from Pumped Café at Platform 7 Glen Eden. Good luck Neville.
Espresso 2 Go, was the business of our gorgeous Barista, Kerina, until her defection to Aussie! It is now being run by Debbie Neuman and is sited most mornings on Manuakau Road, Greenwoods corner from 9.30 to 1.30.
Sahara in Paparoa, is the Northland restaurant of the year, and we are proud they are serving Bica Coffee. This is a fine dining establishment, well worth a stop off on your route northwards.

GOOD LUCK
A really big good luck to Café Alba in Waiuku, for their move to bigger and better premises in August.

HANDICARRIERS
We have recently been introduced to some new take out trays, a sample of which is enclosed for all our cafes. They are certainly a much classier carrier, than the old 4 cup trays, but unfortunately the price reflects this! However if you are interested, and get in quick, we notice that they are being sold off cheaper on Trade me currently. Just log in and search for "handicarriers". We are still supplying the old ones.

CELLPHONE RECEPTION/CONTACT
Can we just remind everyone that we have no cellphone reception at home, so if you are trying to get hold of us, please phone our landline, and if there is no answer, leave a message and we will return your call ASAP. Alternatively we do also check emails several times a day. Our website is undergoing a much needed overhaul.

www.youtube.com
What a fantastic website this is. There is all manner of interesting stuff to check out, but most of all some great videos of coffee art, and lessons in the perfect extraction. Try typing in "coffee art" to the search box at the bottom of the page.
